When you buy from us, you’re buying more than just a piece of furniture.
You can see and feel the difference. From our smooth-glide cot gate with its hidden mechanism to the soft-close drawers, our furniture is designed to set us apart from other furniture manufacturers worldwide.
All our furniture is made by top-quality craftsmen using traditional Spanish and Italian woodworking techniques. In an age of mass-produced foreign imports and computerised machinery this is an art form seldom used in the creation of nursery furniture. We hand-pick the very best hardwoods and veneers, and manufacture everything here in Spain and Italy.
Mortise and tenon joints are used in the carcase construction of our cots, armoires and dressers. These joints are one of the strongest methods of carcase construction; indeed, the ‘pegged’ mortise and tenon joints used in our cot gates copy those used to construct mediaeval timber-framed buildings that are still standing today.
Dovetail joints are used to make all of our drawers. Although more expensive than the box joints normally used today, the dovetail has been found in fine furniture gracing the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs, a clear mark of its strength and longevity.
With Suommo, you can rest assured that you're bringing home one of the highest quality, safest collections of nursery furniture available not just in Spain and Italy but worldwide.
As parents ourselves, we know that nothing is more important to you than your child’s safety. That’s why all our furniture is designed to be safe as well as beautiful.
Our materials, fittings and fixings have been sourced and tested to comply with all relevant British and EU Standards. Every piece of furniture exceeds the stringent British Standard EN71 Part 3 safety tests, as do all our finishes.
Safety is at the heart of our design, right down to the smallest detail. Non-slip pads on our changing trays prevent them from moving when placed on top of the dressers; our smaller drawers have drawer-stops that prevent the drawers being accidentally removed from the furniture.
We know that small children and sharp edges don’t mix, so our corners and edges are softly rounded to conform to British and European Standards. Even our cot fixing-bolts have softly shaped heads to keep little fingers safe. What’s more, they can’t be undone by children, and are made from strong zinc or nickel-plated steel to ensure that they will not rust.
Our commitment to your baby’s safety means we can proudly say that Suommo products are among the safest in the world today.
Certificate of Origin
Every Suommo art piece comes with a Certificate of Origin. This certificate is like the jewellery or art furniture birth certificate, it shows the full details pertaining to your timeless piece. The certificate also serves as your guarantee and also means that your purchases are registered in our archives as every Suommo timeless piece has its own serial numbers recorded in the firm’s archive registers. The Certificate is unique and must be kept safely. No duplicate will be issued if lost.
For the guarantee to be valid, the certificate must be properly filled out, dated and stamped by an Authorized Suommo retailer. The Certificate of Origin is only valid if the timeless piece was sold by an Authorized Suommo retailer.
